Naphthalene found in Newbuilts

Wednesday, 22 April 2020

After DecaBDE last year, another harmful substance has now been found in newbuilt toner cartridges from the Far East. The industry magazine Digital Imaging currently reports online about naphthalene contamination in NBC cartridges.

According to this DI report, newbuilt cartridges tested by the German TÜV Rheinland LGA Products GmbH have exceeded the TÜV guideline value of naphthalene, which is classified as carcinogenic, many times over. DI further reports, that it cannot be ruled out that a considerable part of the naphthalene impurities in the toner powder will evaporate during the printing process.

As a member of the ETIRA industry association, KMP uses toner that complies with the RoHS and REACH regulations so that KMP products can be used without hesitation. Many KMP toner cartridges also carry the LGA or Nordic Swan test label. And with a KMP toner, the consumer uses a resource-conserving, remanufactured “reman cartridge” made in Europe.
