This was not an easy decision for the responsible managers with KMP. Having exhibited on the Paperworld fair respectively the Remanexpo fair for more than a decade, the Bavarian specialist for printer supplies will not be part of these fairs in the year 2015.

Thanks to the internet, today it is easier than ever for purchasers to find new suppliers for their business, as is known. This is a general fact trade fairs have to cope with. The KMP PrintTechnik AG, too, is counting more relevant new contacts outside fair participations. Despite the longterm and emotional link, the participation at the leading fair Paperworld was repeatedly placed under KMP’s microscope during the last years.

Although the frequency at the booth was still good at the recent fair, resulting new business remained too low and the possibilities to talks for a sustainable development of existing contacts were regarded as too limited. “We had to recognize a clear decrease of efficiency of our fair participation, especially for domestic sales”, states Karl Kallinger, sales executive with KMP. “Even the increasing number of foreign visitors could not compensate for this.”

Binding customers, strengthen partnerships

The company sees the increasing acceptance of the own brand which has developed very positively, as one reason for the situation that has come about, and the absence of target groups which are interesting for KMP as another. The planned change of the hall and position by the Messe Frankfurt for the upcoming event – which is the third change in three years - is a further aggravating factor. Finally, the cost/benefit ratio of the Paperworld from KMP’s point of view has led to the decision to suspend this fair participation.

Nevertheless, the company will keep the Paperworld’s development in view. In return, KMP PrintTechnik AG is planning the freed-up funds and resources for strengthening customer relationships and launching a programme to push the printer supplies business intensively forward together with the KMP partners at home and abroad.
